LG Electronics' CEO, Cho Joo-wan, announced the company's readiness to expand its production facilities in the United States to mitigate the impact of U.S. tariff policies. The company has reserved land at its Tennessee factory for refrigerator and oven production as a contingency plan in case tariffs are imposed on Mexican goods. This strategic move ensures that LG can respond swiftly if such policies are enacted.
Regarding LG Electronics' Moscow plant, Cho expressed caution, stating that the company is closely monitoring the situation as the war continues. The plant is prepared to resume operations when sanctions are lifted.
Cho also mentioned a meeting with Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft (MSFT, Financial), planned to take place later this week in Seoul. They will discuss the details of a partnership announced in January, focusing on AI agent development. LG's cooling technology will be integrated into Microsoft's data centers, showcasing the potential synergy between the two companies.
