OpenAI's ChatGPT recently introduced a new image generation feature, allowing users to create images resembling those of the renowned Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli. This new Miyazaki-inspired image style is becoming an online sensation. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, noted that within an hour of the feature's launch, it attracted one million users. He remarked on the intense interest, suggesting it nearly overwhelmed the GPU resources.
Altman humorously urged users to calm down, as the enthusiasm for image generation was intense. He warned that due to the overwhelming demand, the rollout of other new ChatGPT features might be delayed to ensure the system functions smoothly. The Miyazaki-style image trend surpasses the initial popularity of ChatGPT, which took five days to reach one million users upon its initial release.
