Bit Digital, Inc. (BTBT, Financial) has announced the acquisition of a new data center site in Saint-Jérôme, Québec (MTL-3), aimed at bolstering its 5MW colocation contract with Cerebras Systems. The facility will encompass 202,000 square feet on a 7.7-acre plot, developed under a lease-to-own structure. The lease will span 20 years, including two 5-year extension options, with a fixed-price purchase option available within 12 months.
The site development, managed through Bit Digital's WhiteFiber platform, will be retrofitted to Tier 3 standards. This upgrade is anticipated to require a capital expenditure of approximately CAD $55 million, equating to roughly $40 million USD. The facility is slated for a go-live date in July 2025.
Under the terms of a previous February 2025 agreement, Cerebras has contracted for 5MW of tailor-made IT infrastructure for a five-year duration, securing a right of first refusal for any additional megawatt capacity at the location. This partnership signifies Bit Digital's strategic expansion into AI infrastructure, leveraging Quebec's favorable electricity rates to support high-density computing operations.
