- Synaptics (SYNA, Financial) introduces the S3930 series, a new touch controller specifically designed for foldable OLED displays.
- The foldable display market is experiencing a 42% CAGR, positioning Synaptics for growth.
- The S3930 features the industry's smallest footprint package and advanced technology for noise reduction and improved touch response.
Synaptics (SYNA) has unveiled its innovative S3930 series touch controllers, crafted to conquer the challenges inherent in foldable OLED mobile device displays. As the foldable display market expands at an impressive 42% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), this launch is strategically timed to capitalize on the sector’s momentum.
The S3930 series incorporates cutting-edge multi-frequency-region parallel sensing (MFRPS) technology, which significantly reduces sensing bursts and enhances noise filtering. By integrating the E7 MCU core from Si-Five and Synaptics' proprietary Hydra vector co-processor, the new controller offers superior performance in noise removal and mistouch prevention.
With the industry’s smallest footprint package at just 5.1 × 6.8 mm, the S3930 facilitates the creation of thinner and lighter devices while maintaining consistent touch responsiveness, even in dynamic bending conditions. This compact size allows manufacturers to optimize device designs, potentially accommodating larger batteries and other components.
The S3930 series is currently in the sampling phase, and mass production is slated for July 2025. Several OEMs are already evaluating this technology for potential integration into their next-generation foldable devices, indicating promising prospects for Synaptics as a leading supplier in the premium foldable segment.
