Turkcell (NYSE: TKC), Türkiye’s leading telecommunications company, recently hosted a landmark meeting of the ITU-T Focus Group on AI-Native Network (FG-AINN) in Istanbul. The event drew more than 100 industry experts, regulators, and thought leaders from around the globe to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence into future telecom infrastructures.

The meeting featured noteworthy speakers such as Ömer Abdullah Karagözo?lu, Chairman of Türkiye’s Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), Dr. Ali Taha Koç, CEO of Turkcell, and Seizo Onoe, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau. Discussions centered on the shift from traditional telecom networks to intelligent, self-optimizing systems that can autonomously make decisions and offer ultra-low latency communication.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Dr. Ali Taha Koç stated, "AI-powered networks will soon become the backbone of next-generation communication, and we're proud to facilitate this crucial gathering in Istanbul." The meeting’s agenda included workshops and technical sessions focused on network architecture, standards development, and implementation strategies for AI-native networks.

Coinciding with World Quantum Day, the event underscored Turkcell’s pioneering role in the GSMA task force investigating post-quantum cryptography for telecommunications. Dr. Koç emphasized the importance of quantum technologies in ensuring secure communication, marking Turkcell as the first Turkish company involved in this global initiative.

The ITU focus group session marked a key milestone in international efforts to define AI-native networks. Seizo Onoe noted the importance of developing consensus-driven standards to smoothly transition towards these advanced communication systems. Turkcell's participation in this initiative highlights its commitment to digital transformation and its leadership in shaping the future of global telecommunications.
