Box, Inc. (BOX), the leading Intelligent Content Management platform, and IBM (IBM) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption of enterprise-level artificial intelligence (AI) for content-driven workflows. The collaboration utilizes IBM's watsonx and Box AI, enabling organizations to unlock the full potential of their enterprise content and data safely and efficiently.

With an increasing amount of an organization’s data being unstructured and embedded within contracts and presentations, the need for a robust AI solution to manage and analyze such data is crucial. The partnership facilitates a trusted technological pipeline, enhancing both security and compliance for enterprises, especially in heavily regulated industries.

Box customers can now leverage Box AI in conjunction with IBM watsonx to enhance their data extraction, automated document processing, and content analysis capabilities. Key to this integration is IBM’s AI studio watsonx.ai, which provides a range of models for Box AI, including the open-source IBM Granite models and the latest models from Meta Llama.

Both companies have adopted the solution internally; IBM uses Box AI with watsonx to increase its workforce productivity, while Box employs IBM watsonx.governance for managing AI model life cycles and ensuring compliance. This governance ensures AI-driven insights remain accountable and comply with various regulations.

The partnership also extends to Box using Red Hat OpenShift for faster deployment of scalable AI applications across cloud environments, which supports the development of secure, efficient AI-driven workflows. The newly developed solutions are readily available to Box Enterprise Advanced customers via Box AI Studio and Box AI APIs, with IBM acting as an authorized reseller.
