MacDermid Enthone, a leader in surface finishing and subsidiary of Element Solutions Inc (ESI, Financial), has strategically partnered with Recubrimientos Metalicos de Mexico, a well-established Mexican firm, to invest in RM Plating. This collaboration is poised to advance surface finishing technologies by leveraging a 50-year relationship between the two companies.

The RM Plating facility, located in Irapuato, Guanajuato, commenced its operations in February 2025. It specializes in high-performance plating solutions such as zinc plating, zinc-nickel coatings, zinc flake coatings, and nickel-tin plating on busbars. Serving a diverse range of industries, including automotive, power distribution, construction, and general industrial applications, the facility aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of surface finishing processes.

The investment extends beyond just the provision of chemistry supplies. It includes the deployment of advanced plating equipment and the incorporation of extensive technical expertise, reinforcing MacDermid Enthone’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of surface finishing technology. Glen Breault, Vice President of North America at MacDermid Enthone, highlighted the company's focus on integrating state-of-the-art equipment with chemical and process expertise to lead the future of metal finishing.

Led by General Director Carlos Cielak, Recubrimientos Metálicos de México has been a pioneer in the Mexican surface finishing industry since its inception in 1954. The partnership represents a significant technological leap forward for the family-owned business, positioning RM Plating as a key player in the region's manufacturing ecosystem. The comprehensive approach taken by MacDermid Enthone suggests a strategy aimed at creating deeper customer relationships through a fully integrated solution model.

While full operational capacity is anticipated in the coming months, the initial phase of production at the RM Plating facility marks a robust start to this innovative endeavor. This move aligns with typical specialty chemical business models, where proximity to customers and technical mastery often drive substantial value creation, enhancing MacDermid Enthone's industrial solutions portfolio and solidifying its presence in the Mexican market.
