FirstEnergy Corp. (FE) has initiated a round-the-clock restoration effort to reconnect over 385,000 customers who lost power due to severe thunderstorms in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. As of the latest report on April 30, 2025, power has been restored to approximately 156,000 customers, yet challenges remain due to the extensive damage caused by winds exceeding 70 mph.

The storms caused significant damage, including numerous broken poles, downed power lines, and extensive tree-related damage. More than 3,400 workers, including over 2,000 lineworkers and additional support from external contractors and mutual aid organizations, are working tirelessly to restore power. Despite obstacles such as downed trees and road closures, crews are committed to swift and safe repairs.

Current outage figures reveal that the most affected areas include West Penn Power with 143,000 customers without service, Penelec with 48,000 affected, and Mon Power with 16,500 customers impacted. In response, FirstEnergy is prioritizing repairs to transmission facilities and critical services, including hospitals, before addressing smaller isolated issues.

Customers can track the restoration status through FirstEnergy's 24/7 Power Center or by texting STAT to 544487 for updates. FirstEnergy advises the public to maintain a safe distance from downed power lines and report them immediately to authorities to ensure continued safety during the restoration process.
