- Identiv (INVE, Financial) partners with InPlay to develop BLE-enabled smart labels.
- The smart labels will launch in late 2025, priced at $1-$2 per unit.
- Features include real-time tracking, sensor integration, and extended read ranges.
Identiv, Inc. (INVE) and InPlay have announced a strategic collaboration to develop a next-generation portfolio of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) enabled smart labels for industrial IoT applications. The new smart labels, powered by InPlay’s IN100 NanoBeacon™ System-on-Chip (SoC), are designed to offer advanced operational capabilities including real-time tracking, sensor integration for temperature, humidity, and motion monitoring, and configurable form factors.
The BLE-enabled smart labels are expected to enter the market in late 2025, with an anticipated cost between $1 and $2 per unit when produced at high volumes. This competitive pricing strategy suggests the labels are aimed at high-value applications, particularly in the fields of cold-chain compliance, pharmaceutical logistics, and asset tracking.
Featuring an extended read range compared to standard RFID labels, these smart labels offer enhanced security through AES-EAX cryptography and are compatible with BLE gateways and smartphones. This technological advancement aims to meet the growing demands in logistics sectors where real-time environmental monitoring and data security are paramount.
As Identiv and InPlay continue their development efforts, potential customers are provided ample lead time for integration planning, marking this initiative as a forward-looking investment in future IoT tracking technology.
