  • IKE Tech files first-ever PMTA for blockchain-based age-gating system for vaping, marking a significant step in youth vaping prevention.
  • Human Factors study demonstrates 100% effectiveness in preventing underage usage, with 91% user approval rating.
  • System integrates seamlessly with all ENDS devices, leveraging blockchain for enhanced security and privacy.

Los Angeles-based IKE Tech LLC has submitted the first-ever Premarket Tobacco Product Application (PMTA) and Tobacco Product Master File (TPMF) for a standalone, blockchain-based age-verification system for electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This innovative system, featuring Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology combined with a user-friendly mobile app, aims to prevent youth access to vaping products by providing real-time age verification at the point of use.

The Human Factors Validation Study conducted on the IKE system revealed compelling results, with a 100% success rate in preventing device activation by users under the age of 21. The study included 102 participants, demonstrating the system's efficacy in a controlled environment. Furthermore, 91% of users rated the app as "Extremely Easy" or "Very Easy" to use, with a minimal user error rate of 0.8%.

IKE Tech's technological solution is designed for universal compatibility across all ENDS devices, utilizing blockchain-based tokenization to secure user identity while preserving privacy. The system's continuous verification requirement counters the limitations of existing point-of-sale checks, providing a robust safeguard against underage vaping.

Looking ahead, IKE Tech plans to introduce additional features such as counterfeit protection, geofencing, and real-time data access to further combat illicit markets and enhance the user experience. The firm has requested expedited review from the FDA, emphasizing the public health benefits of their novel approach. If approved, this system could redefine regulatory standards in the vaping industry by ensuring age-restricted access to rightful users.
