Apple (AAPL, Financial) CEO Tim Cook announced the company’s plan to acquire over 19 billion chips from the United States this year. This initiative is a part of Apple's broader strategy to reorient its global supply chain, aiming to reduce dependency on China.

Apple is increasing its reliance on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSM) and plans to produce the majority of iPhones destined for the U.S. in India. This shift is a response to the ongoing trade tensions and tariffs, as Apple looks to lessen its production focus in China. However, Cook did not provide a direct response regarding the impact of tariffs on Apple's operations and highlighted the difficulty in predicting the situation beyond June.
