FirstEnergy (FE) has made significant progress in restoring power to customers across West Virginia and Pennsylvania after severe storms caused widespread outages this week. Over 430,000 customers initially lost power due to intense weather conditions, including heavy rain and straight-line winds earlier this week. As of the latest report, power has been restored to 381,000 customers, accounting for 87% of those affected.

A robust workforce of 4,900 workers from 18 states has been deployed to address the outages and accelerate the restoration process. The coordinated effort spans multiple FirstEnergy subsidiaries, with Mon Power and Penn Power having restored power to 96% of their customers, Penelec reaching 92% restoration, and West Penn Power at 79% restoration.

Restoration timelines vary by county, with most remaining customers expected to have their power restored between May 2-5. Specific timelines include Greene and Mifflin counties projected for May 3, while more severely impacted areas such as Westmoreland and Armstrong counties are expected to recover by May 5. FirstEnergy has implemented a Global Estimated Time of Restoration (ETR) system, allowing customers to track their individual outage status online or via text.
