Lowe’s Companies, Inc. (LOW) has rolled out Mylow Companion, an AI assistant designed to improve customer service and speed up the onboarding process for associates in over 1,700 stores. This groundbreaking deployment marks the first instance of a retailer implementing an AI tool at such a large scale specifically for store associates, setting a new standard in the retail sector. The tool was developed in collaboration with OpenAI, a leader in artificial intelligence technology.

Mylow Companion equips associates with quick access to comprehensive product details, insightful project advice, and inventory information. The AI assistant is built to operate through natural conversational prompts and includes a voice-to-text functionality, providing a user-friendly experience on existing handheld devices. This empowers all associates, regardless of their tenure or department, to offer expert-level assistance to customers tackling complex home improvement projects.

The launch of Mylow Companion complements Lowe's digital strategy, following the introduction of Mylow, the company's AI-powered virtual advisor for customers. Both tools utilize the same AI foundation, illustrating Lowe’s cohesive approach to integrating advanced AI capabilities into its operations. Leveraging the technological prowess of OpenAI, Lowe’s is enhancing both customer and associate experiences while maintaining personalized service—a critical component in the home improvement industry.

This initiative reiterates Lowe's commitment to being the most assistive home improvement retailer. As noted by Seemantini Godbole, Lowe's Chief Digital and Information Officer, the implementation of Mylow Companion ensures that associates, whether new or seasoned, can consistently provide expert advice. This strategic innovation aligns with Lowe's broader digital transformation efforts, including previous achievements like the Apple Vision Pro app and interactive digital twin technology.
