At Meta's inaugural LlamaCon developer conference, Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella took the stage to discuss the future of generative AI and large language models (LLMs). Both leaders emphasized that AI is rapidly evolving into a key technology platform that will fundamentally change human-technology interactions and drive comprehensive upgrades in global industries and work models.
Nadella highlighted that generative AI is moving towards "deep applications," where multiple LLMs collaborate to handle complex tasks, likening this transformation to major tech shifts like cloud computing. He predicted that as the cost and capability curve of AI technology declines, business adoption will increase, opening new business models and software ecosystems.
Zuckerberg suggested that by 2026, AI could handle over 50% of application development tasks, changing the role of engineers to coordinators of AI "smart teams." Both CEOs emphasized the importance of developing open and closed models side-by-side to offer flexibility and control for AI deployment.
AI's role in enhancing productivity within enterprises was also discussed. Nadella revealed that 20-30% of Microsoft's internal code is already generated by AI, enhancing software delivery speed and developer creativity. Zuckerberg forecasted that AI-assisted programming may surpass 50% in the coming years, impacting industry efficiency and talent development significantly.
