Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc. (FFAI), a California-based electric mobility company, has announced the filing of three patent applications through its subsidiary, Future AIHER. These patents aim to revolutionize hybrid extended-range systems by utilizing AI-driven deep reinforcement learning for personalized energy management. This technology promises to enhance the efficiency and architecture of electric powertrain systems, potentially benefiting future generations of the company’s FX models.

Launched in March 2025, Future AIHER is pioneering the integration of AI hybrid extended-range electric powertrain systems. By focusing on deep reinforcement learning, the company seeks to optimize energy management based on individual driving styles and conditions. This innovation not only aims to streamline system architecture by decoupling components like engines and generators but also enhances modularity and functionality.

The strategic plan for Future AIHER involves a two-phase approach. In the short term, the subsidiary will integrate third-party range extender technology into Faraday’s upcoming FX vehicles to expedite market entry. Long-term goals include developing proprietary AI-driven range extender solutions for broader applications, including electric vertical takeoff and landing (EVTOL) aircraft, commercial trucking, and electric boating industries.

YT Jia, Co-CEO of Faraday Future, emphasized that these advancements align with the company’s vision of intelligent mobility. With the potential for cross-domain applicability, Future AIHER aims to extend high-performance, AI-enhanced powertrains beyond FF and FX models to various mobility industries.
