Genasys Inc. (GNSS), a leader in Protective Communications, has announced a strategic partnership with ShakeAlert to integrate Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) capabilities into its communications platform. Operated under a licensed agreement, this integration aims to enhance public safety by providing timely alerts before strong shaking begins. The ShakeAlert system, administered by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), is designed to detect significant seismic activity, estimate potential shaking, and issue crucial alerts enabling protective actions.

Richard Danforth, CEO of Genasys, emphasized the importance of this integration for the company's ACOUSTICS customers in California. By receiving ShakeAlert messages, the Genasys Protective Communications platform can deliver alerts through outdoor systems seconds before significant shaking, thus providing critical time to take protective measures and safeguard lives.

Robert de Groot from USGS regards Genasys as a valuable addition to the growing community of ShakeAlert Licensed Operators, which includes schools, hospitals, and infrastructure facilities. The system prioritizes alert delivery to areas likely to experience strong tremors, allowing for immediate protective and automated responses such as slowing trains and issuing emergency warnings.

Genasys continues to expand its emergency management ecosystem, complementing partnerships with agencies like FEMA's Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS) and the National Weather Service's Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service for flood warnings, among others. These strategic alliances enhance Genasys' capabilities in delivering comprehensive solutions for public safety and disaster preparedness.
