International Airlines Group (IAG, Financial), the parent company of British Airways, announced an order for 53 long-range aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, in addition to the 18 aircraft ordered in March. The new order includes 32 Boeing 787-10 planes for British Airways and 21 Airbus A330-900neo planes, which may be allocated to other IAG airlines such as Aer Lingus, Iberia, and LEVEL.

The March order, disclosed recently, consisted of 6 Airbus A350-900 planes for Iberia, and 6 Airbus A350-1000 and 6 Boeing 777-9 planes for British Airways. Based on January 2025 prices, the list prices for the A330-900neo and 787-10 are approximately $374 million and $397 million, respectively, though airlines typically negotiate significant discounts. IAG did not reveal the specifics of its discounts.

British Airways also secured options to purchase up to 10 additional Boeing 787 aircraft, and IAG has the right to buy up to 13 more A330-900neo planes under its agreement with Airbus. The U.S. announced a $10 billion deal for the UK to buy Boeing planes, aligning with IAG's strategy to balance orders between Airbus and Boeing amid supply chain challenges and delivery delays.

IAG remains a pivotal player in the aviation industry, with its purchasing decisions closely watched by competitors, especially during times of global trade tensions.
