Amtech Systems, Inc. (ASYS), a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, disclosed its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025, ending March 31, 2025. The company reported a net revenue of $15.6 million, a 36% decrease sequentially from the previous quarter's $24.4 million and a 39% reduction from the same quarter in the prior fiscal year, primarily due to delayed shipment issues.

The GAAP net loss for the quarter stood at $31.8 million, or $2.23 per share, compared to a GAAP net income of $0.3 million, or $0.02 per share, in the preceding quarter. On a non-GAAP basis, Amtech reported a net loss of $2.3 million, or $0.16 per share. The company attributed the financial decline to ongoing challenges in the mature node semiconductor market, resulting in significant non-cash inventory write-downs and impairments.

Despite immediate challenges, CEO Bob Daigle expressed optimism about the strong demand for semiconductor packaging equipment, particularly pertinent to AI infrastructure development. He highlighted that strategic initiatives and cost structure improvements position Amtech well for potential profitable growth in the long term.

Looking ahead, Amtech projects third-quarter revenues to range between $16 million and $19 million, anticipating growth within its advanced packaging equipment line, notwithstanding the persisting difficulties in the mature node sector. The company continues to focus on operational cost savings and expects adjusted EBITDA to be neutral for the upcoming quarter.
