- High-grade lithium values with up to 5.3% Li2O from stockpiles and 3.7% Li2O from pegmatite outcrops have been confirmed.
- Significant multi-commodity potential with notable tin and historical gold mineralization present at the Volney Project.
- Project benefits from its private land status, allowing for accelerated permitting and development processes.
Lion Rock Resources (LRRIF, Financial) has reported noteworthy lithium assay results from their Volney Project in South Dakota. The surface sampling program revealed high-grade lithium values, reaching up to 5.3% Li2O from stockpile material and 3.7% Li2O from pegmatite outcrops. Of the 100 samples taken, 69 returned values exceeding 1.0% Li2O, emphasizing consistent mineralization across the project area.
The lithium-bearing pegmatite trend spans a significant corridor measuring 1,000 meters by 500 meters, and crucially, it remains open in all directions, suggesting further exploration potential. This project, located on 142 hectares of privately held land, shows promise beyond lithium, with valuable tin concentrations and historical high-grade gold mineralization, reaching up to 8.0 g/t Au over 43.0 meters.
The private land status of the Volney Project provides a strategic advantage, facilitating rapid permitting from exploration to production stages. Further enhancing the project's prospects, the stockpile samples from the historic Giant Volney pit area returned an average grade of 3.8% Li2O. This confirms the enduring quality of the material previously mined.
Dale Ginn, President and CEO of Lion Rock, highlighted the promising lithium results as confirming the high-grade potential of the Volney Project. He emphasized the opportunity for continued exploration at both surface and through drilling, and expressed optimism about the multi-commodity potential of the site, including high-grade gold and tin resources.
This recent development positions Lion Rock Resources well in the mineral exploration landscape, particularly given the project's advantageous location in the Black Hills Mining District, known for its rich mining history.
