ENGIE North America has entered into a preliminary agreement with Cipher Mining Inc. (CIFR, Financial) to supply up to 300 megawatts (MW) of clean energy to Cipher’s data center in Texas. This agreement leverages ENGIE's wind facilities, highlighting the company's commitment to renewable energy solutions.

The co-location of the data center with the wind facility addresses significant transmission congestion and curtailment challenges in West Texas, allowing for the efficient use of surplus energy during periods of excess generation. This strategic move not only supports Cipher's operational needs with reliable power but also contributes to stabilizing the regional grid.

"ENGIE is focused on maximizing the value of renewable generation and improving the cost-effectiveness of delivering clean energy supply to our customers,” said David Carroll, Chief Renewables Officer & SVP of ENGIE North America.

Through this strategic partnership, ENGIE reinforces its status as a leading global provider of power purchase agreements, mitigating risks associated with transmission bottlenecks and bolstering its renewable energy portfolio.
