The comprehensive system combines Identiv's secure NFC inlays, powered by NTAG® 424 DNA TagTamper chips, with Genuine-Analytics' scientific content testing through its winePROOF database, and ZATAP's mobile blockchain interface. The solution was put to the test at a high-profile Swiss auction in 2024, where it successfully authenticated rare vintages, some valued at over 20,000 Swiss Francs, while also detecting a counterfeit bottle.
The authentication process is innovative, involving a microscopic laser-drilled hole for content verification, followed by resealing with a GA Safety Tag, enabling digital verification of both the bottle and its contents.
