MaxLinear, Inc. (MXL), a prominent leader in wired network solutions, has announced that its Web-Smart 2.5G Ethernet Switch SoCs, specifically the MxL86252S and MxL86282S, have been selected by HiSource, a major supplier of PoE switches, to power its next generation of smart PoE Ethernet switches. These switches are equipped with smart features to enhance network management and optimization.
The MxL86282S model, incorporating integrated CPUs, allows Ethernet switches to manage data processing tasks directly within the switch. This capability reduces latency and substantially improves overall network performance, thus providing high-performance, reliable, and user-friendly network solutions.
Key specifications of the MxL86282S include eight integrated Ethernet 2.5GBASE-T PHYs, support for four data rates including 2500, 1000, 100, and 10Mbps, and the inclusion of two optional 10G SERDES uplink ports for enhanced network configuration flexibility. Moreover, the switch's low power consumption—under 700mW per PHY—supports the Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) feature, which contributes to significant power savings.
MaxLinear is set to demonstrate the capabilities of the MxL86282S at Computex 2025, scheduled for May 20-23, 2025, in Taipei, Taiwan. This event will showcase the advanced features and future-proof capabilities of MaxLinear's Ethernet solutions, including enhanced security and various traffic type support.
