- Orange Belgium enhances its Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) with CommScope's Video Unified Edge (VUE) platform.
- The VUE platform supports video data and control planes within Orange Belgium's DAA network.
- This deployment marks the first European sale of CommScope's VUE platform.
Orange Belgium, a prominent Belgian telecoms operator, has enriched its Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) by deploying CommScope's (COMM, Financial) Video Unified Edge (VUE) platform. This development signifies the first European deployment of the VUE platform, heralding a new phase in the collaboration between CommScope and Orange Belgium.
The VUE platform will serve as a critical component in Orange Belgium's DAA network, providing support for both the video data plane and video control plane. It operates as an auxiliary video core, virtualizing the hardware-based QAM video network while supporting expanded OFDM channel blocks and encapsulating transport stream video multiplexers into a DEPI tunnel. This functionality enables Orange Belgium to streamline video content delivery over the DAA sections of its network.
Philippe Toussaint, Chief Technology Officer at Orange Belgium, expressed enthusiasm about the VUE platform's role in transitioning away from legacy I-CCAP topology. The platform aligns with their strategic plans to evolve network operations towards Cloud and NFV operations, ultimately simplifying the migration process and improving deployment timelines.
CommScope continues to offer a comprehensive portfolio of access network products, including the VUE platform, vCCAP Evo™, and the ServAssure® NXT Performance Management suite, enhancing virtualized headend and DAA operations. This deployment underscores CommScope's commitment to pushing technological boundaries and advancing network capabilities globally.
