Silicon Motion Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: SIMO), a leading name in NAND flash controller design, has announced the launch of two innovative SSD controllers at COMPUTEX 2025. The new offerings include the SM2504XT PCIe Gen5 controller and the SM2324, a pioneering single-chip USB4 portable SSD controller.

The SM2504XT is constructed using TSMC's advanced 6nm process, bringing enhanced performance to the table with sequential read speeds up to 11.5 GB/s and write speeds reaching 11.0 GB/s, all while consuming less than 5 watts of power. This new model offers an 11% improvement in performance per watt compared to its predecessor, marking a significant leap in energy efficiency for client SSDs aimed at AI PCs and gaming systems.

Meanwhile, Silicon Motion's SM2324 is positioned as the industry's first single-chip SSD controller featuring native USB4 support and integrated Power Delivery. This design innovation streamlines the complexity of portable storage solutions by reducing the number of required components, thus offering OEMs a more cost-effective and efficient pathway to market. Capable of achieving sequential read/write speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s, the SM2324 supports storage capacities up to 32TB, making it ideal for next-gen portable devices.

Both controllers are compatible with the latest 3D TLC and QLC NAND technologies, catering to the growing needs of high-performance, energy-efficient storage in AI-driven markets. These advancements reinforce Silicon Motion's competitive edge against major industry players such as Phison and Marvell.
