Rackspace Technology (RXT), a leader in end-to-end hybrid cloud solutions, has completed the migration of the Housing Authority of the City of Austin's (HACA) entire technology infrastructure to Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. This strategic transition significantly boosts HACA's operational resilience, continuity, and security.
HACA, a crucial public-sector entity that provides essential housing services to low-income families, was previously reliant on on-premises systems and open-source tools. The severe downtime experienced during a winter storm in 2021 underscored the need for a robust cloud-based solution, prompting the partnership with Rackspace Technology.
The migration to Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 included transitioning 373 users and managing over 3.7 TB of data. This new setup not only enhanced HACA's disaster recovery and cybersecurity posture but also improved operational agility, allowing seamless future technology integrations.
"Our mission relies on technology being available 99.9% of the time," stated Jorge Vazquez, HACA's Director of Technology Management and Innovation, emphasizing the importance of enhanced security and adaptability in supporting the agency's mission to serve vulnerable citizens.
Jeff Martinez, VP & General Manager of Government Services at Rackspace Technology, remarked, "By modernizing HACA's technology stack, we've provided them with a flexible and secure foundation ready for emerging technologies, enabling quick adoption of advanced solutions and compliance with evolving standards."
