Epic Games announced that its popular game Fortnite is now unavailable globally on iOS after Apple's decision to block its re-entry into the US App Store. The official Fortnite account expressed that Apple has prevented the game's submission, making it impossible for Epic Games to release the iOS version on both the App Store and the EU's Epic Games Store. As a result, iOS users worldwide will be unable to access Fortnite until Apple lifts its restrictions.
Recently, Epic Games attempted to relaunch Fortnite on the US App Store. This follows a recent court ruling that prohibited Apple (AAPL, Financial) from charging commissions on purchases consumers make outside the iOS apps. This dispute traces back to 2020 when Epic Games updated Fortnite to route payments through its website, bypassing Apple’s 30% developer fee, which led to its removal from the App Store.
