Battery X Metals (BATXF) has announced a significant achievement in its lithium-ion battery recycling technology by reaching a 98.6% recovery rate for graphite and a 96.3% purity for metal oxides. These milestones were accomplished through a proprietary two-stage flotation process, developed in collaboration with a Global Top 20 University, aimed at improving the eco-friendly separation of battery materials.
The latest trials showed an increase in graphite recovery from 96.28% to 98.6%, marking a 2.4% relative improvement. Additionally, metal oxide purity rose from 89.87% to 96.3%, a relative increase of 7.1%. The process also enhanced separation efficiency, with graphite grade improving to 75.7% and metal oxide recovery reaching 53.2%.
Due to these advancements, Battery X Metals is planning further optimization of its technology. The focus will be on reducing binder impact, testing different black mass chemistries, and pursuing patent protection for future commercialization. This development is pivotal, given that graphite constitutes 95% of lithium-ion battery anodes and is often lost through conventional recycling techniques.
