MaxLinear, Inc. (MXL), a leading provider in wired network solutions, has announced a collaboration with DrayTek, a developer of high-performance networking equipment. DrayTek has decided to integrate MaxLinear's MxL86252S and MxL86282S 2.5G Ethernet Switch System on Chips (SoCs) into their upcoming 7- and 10-port Ethernet switches. These solutions are part of MaxLinear's efforts to support advanced, secure, and high-performance networking demands for applications including digital signage, video conferencing, and esports broadcasting.
The MxL86282S and MxL86252S SoCs come equipped with features that allow secure data transmission, thanks to the support of HTTPS protocol for enhanced data security. Additionally, their advanced Access Control List (ACL) configurations offer users the flexibility to manage and secure network environments effectively. With the inclusion of IGMPv3 support, these switches enhance the efficiency of multicast traffic handling, enabling next-generation applications across enterprise and media-rich environments.
According to Vikas Choudhary, Vice President of Connectivity and Storage business at MaxLinear, the company's portfolio of 2.5G Ethernet switches provides the necessary speed and security for bandwidth-intensive applications. These include features such as 2.5G Ethernet speeds, HTTPS support, flexible ACL rules, and IGMPv3 functionality.
DrayTek’s Head of Product Planning, Henry Lo, emphasized the advantages of using MaxLinear's solutions, allowing them to offer compact, energy-efficient switches capable of handling today's growing data traffic demands. They aim to enhance connectivity and performance for both consumer and business applications.
The MxL86282S features include integrated Ethernet 2.5GBASE-T PHYs supporting various data rates, optional 10G SERDES uplink ports, and an integrated CPU for web-smart applications. Additionally, it boasts low power consumption, unblocking wire-speed switching, future-proof packet processing capabilities, and advanced network management features like VLAN, QoS, and ACL.
