Western Digital (WDC) is spotlighting its latest advancements in storage technology at Computex 2025, showcasing innovations tailored for AI acceleration, disaggregated storage, and software-defined storage (SDS). The company's Platforms Business is enhancing these aspects with solutions like the new Ultrastar Data102 ORv3 JBOD and OpenFlex Data24 4100 EBOF, specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of today’s data-intensive workloads.

The newly launched Open Composable Compatibility Lab (OCCL) 2.0, located in Colorado Springs, plays a crucial role in fostering industry interoperability. The lab serves as a vendor-neutral testing ground for cloud service providers (CSPs) and enterprises, helping them optimize composable and disaggregated infrastructure for greater scalability and energy efficiency. Key enhancements with OCCL 2.0 include generating detailed solutions architectures and SSD partner benchmarking to ensure optimal storage solutions.

Western Digital's introduction of the OpenFlex Data24 4100 is another highlight at Computex. Part of the Data24 4000 series, this single-port SSD model caters to environments where high availability is not a critical requirement, optimizing performance through a singular SSD connection while ensuring redundancy through mirroring.

The Ultrastar Data102 3000 ORv3 JBOD aligns with the Open Compute Project (OCP) initiative, adhering to the Open Rack v3 specification. This design focuses on improving power efficiency, airflow, and system manageability, making it a robust choice for cloud data centers. The product is expected to be available by CQ4 2025.

Western Digital's commitment to flexibility is further highlighted by its multi-SSD vendor strategy, qualifying SSDs from providers like DapuStor, Kioxia, and Sandisk. This strategy bolsters performance, cost efficiency, and supply chain resilience, providing customers with an array of choices for optimizing their storage infrastructure.
