Following his keynote at Computex 2025, NVIDIA (NVDA, Financial) CEO Jensen Huang spoke out against U.S. government policies restricting AI technology exports. In an interview, Huang criticized the restrictions, stating that they hinder the U.S. from maintaining a leadership role in AI technology. The ban on exporting H20 chips to China cost NVIDIA $55 billion in inventory and $150 billion in potential sales, with U.S. tax revenue losses of around $3 billion. Huang warned that these policies not only threaten the CUDA platform's development but also allow China to establish its own ecosystem, spreading AI globally.

Huang noted that banning chip exports won't stop China's AI progress, as 50% of AI researchers are Chinese. He highlighted the importance of accelerating American technology's global spread to avoid losing technological leadership. Huang argued that U.S. companies should be allowed to compete in China's massive market, aiding in trade balance, tax revenue, and job creation. He emphasized that innovation and competition, not suppression, are key to maintaining an edge in the AI race.
