Musk's xAI and Tesla Boost GPU Orders from Nvidia and AMD

Elon Musk announced that his AI startup, xAI, alongside Tesla, plans to purchase more GPU chips from Nvidia and AMD. Musk highlighted that anticipating rapid AI development hinged on chip supply, prompting extensive procurement efforts. Currently, xAI operates a powerful generative AI training center with 200,000 GPUs at the Colossus data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Additionally, xAI has ordered another one million GPUs for installation at a new data center, though details and timelines remain undisclosed.

For Tesla, Musk discussed the use of its supercomputer, Dojo, located in Buffalo, to train technologies like the Autopilot driver assistance system and the Optimus humanoid robot.
