CenterPoint Energy (CNP) has successfully completed Phase Two of its Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative (GHRI) ahead of schedule, ensuring enhanced grid resilience before the start of the 2025 hurricane season. This critical phase, accomplished over the past 10 months, included substantial upgrades such as the installation of over 26,000 storm-resilient poles and the undergrounding of more than 400 miles of power lines.

In addition to these efforts, CenterPoint Energy installed 5,150 automation devices, cleared over 6,000 miles of vegetation, and set up 100 weather monitoring stations throughout the Greater Houston area. These initiatives combined are expected to reduce power outages by more than 125 million minutes annually, significantly boosting service reliability for customers.

With all critical actions completed before the self-imposed June 1 deadline, CenterPoint Energy demonstrates exceptional operational execution and commitment to building the most resilient coastal grid in the nation. The company plans to announce updated GHRI targets for the remainder of 2025 in early June, indicating a sustained focus on enhancing infrastructure resilience.
