Since its inception in 2016, the award has been a cornerstone of Takeda’s effort to promote scientific excellence and encourage innovation among early-career scientists.
This prestigious award will honor three category winners, each of whom will receive a $75,000 prize. In addition, a grand prize winner will be awarded an extra $175,000, culminating in a total grand prize of $250,000. The grand prize will be announced at a live gala event on April 9, 2026, in Boston. The initiative is aimed at celebrating the groundbreaking research and the promising future of young scientists globally.
Those who are named category winners and shortlisted applicants will benefit from a one-year career development program administered by Nature. Applications for the Innovators in Science Award can be submitted through their official website until September 16, 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be revealed in January 2026, followed by the announcement of category winners in February 2026, prior to the gala event.
