- Offers providers a cost-effective alternative to traditional routers with enhanced scalability and flexibility.
Adtran, Inc. (ADTN, Financial), a leading provider of open networking solutions, has introduced the Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter, a cloud-managed platform designed to modernize enterprise edge services. This solution provides service providers with a flexible, virtualized alternative to traditional edge routers, helping to reduce costs, complexity, and risk associated with legacy systems.
The Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter consolidates virtual routing, servers, and cloud orchestration into a single subscription model. It empowers service providers to accelerate the delivery of Layer 3 managed services, facilitating smarter service rollout and improved monetization of enterprise connectivity at the network edge. With support for 2.5Gbit/s, 10Gbit/s SFP+, and optional 5G wireless, the platform ensures dynamic Layer 3 routing, VPN, DNS, DHCP, QoS, stateful firewall functionality, and robust IPsec security.
“Our new Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter offers an immediate way to modernize services, increase margins, and support high-value business customers with greater agility,” stated Robert Conger, GM of software platforms and strategy at Adtran. The platform also features zero-touch provisioning, remote lifecycle management, and cloud-hosted orchestration services, enabling faster time-to-market and streamlined operations.
Adtran’s CTO, Christoph Glingener, emphasized that the Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter is not merely a replacement for legacy hardware but a scalable and service-ready solution that meets current demands while preparing for future innovations. The flexibility of this platform allows providers to tailor deployments according to their specific needs, whether for high-bandwidth services or advanced use cases incorporating third-party virtual network functions (VNFs).
