- Richardson Electronics (RELL, Financial) launches TurbineGuard™ series for wind and renewable energy markets.
- New products offer advanced monitoring solutions and compatibility with GE turbines.
- Designed and manufactured in LaFox, IL, enhancing quality control.
On May 27, 2025, Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (RELL), a leader in engineered solutions for renewable energy, announced the introduction of the patent-pending TurbineGuard™ monitoring relay series. This new line targets critical voltage and temperature monitoring needs in the wind and renewable energy markets and addresses the challenges of aging wind turbine fleets.
The TurbineGuard™ series includes two main products: the TurbineGuard™ Temperature Signal Relay and the TurbineGuard™ Voltage Signal Relay. Both products are equipped with advanced features such as LCD readouts, programmable set points, and status LEDs. These innovations are fully compatible with existing GE turbine installations, ensuring easy integration and improved system performance without the need for extensive rewiring.
The TurbineGuard™ Temperature Signal Relay is designed to support winterization efforts with functionalities like push-button heater testing and remote input testing capabilities. This relay helps ensure that turbine systems remain operational in extreme weather conditions, meeting new regulatory winterization requirements.
Meanwhile, the TurbineGuard™ Voltage Signal Relay offers compatibility with both ultracapacitor and lead acid battery technologies, helping to address obsolescence issues of key components. By providing voltage monitoring capabilities, this relay enhances system reliability and operational visibility for turbine operators.
All TurbineGuard™ products are designed, manufactured, and tested at Richardson's facility in LaFox, IL, USA. This in-house production ensures high quality and dependable performance, underscoring Richardson Electronics' commitment to innovation in the renewable energy sector.
Greg Peloquin, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Power & Microwave Technologies and Green Energy Solutions at Richardson Electronics, stated, “Our goal is to create engineered solutions that not only meet user expectations but deliver real value. Every feature and improvement of the new TurbineGuard products reflect our commitment to putting the user first.”
This strategic product launch reinforces Richardson Electronics' role as a key player in the renewable energy market, providing solutions that cater to both current and future industry needs.
