  • Loxo partners with Aeva (AEVA, Financial) to utilize its 4D LiDAR technology for autonomous delivery vehicles.
  • Aeva's Atlas sensors enhance obstacle detection, object tracking, and vehicle motion estimation.
  • This collaboration aims to support scalable and weather-resilient delivery services across Europe.

In a strategic move, Swiss urban autonomy software provider Loxo has partnered with Aeva Technologies, Inc. (AEVA) to integrate Aeva's long-range 4D LiDAR technology into its autonomous delivery vehicles. The collaboration will see the deployment of Aeva's state-of-the-art Atlas 4D LiDAR sensors across Loxo’s delivery vehicle fleet, enhancing the company’s Digital Driver platform.

The key advantages of Aeva's cutting-edge 4D LiDAR sensors include high-resolution long-range sensing, capable of detecting obstacles and road users from up to 500 meters away, and dynamic object detection and tracking with centimeter accuracy. This technology provides robust performance across various weather conditions and offers vehicle motion estimation capabilities that ensure accurate localization even without GPS.

Claudio Panizza, Co-founder and CTO of Loxo, highlighted the significance of Aeva's technology, stating that it brings high-fidelity, real-time data essential for safe and effective operation of their vehicles across diverse conditions. The instant velocity data provided by Aeva is particularly beneficial in maintaining localization in scenarios where traditional sensors are inadequate.

The partnership signifies a significant step towards enabling scalable, weather-resilient autonomous delivery services throughout Europe. Aeva’s Managing Director of Business Development, James Byun, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting Loxo’s mission with its unique technology, which extends capabilities beyond those of traditional sensing systems.
