Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO), a leader in security and networking solutions, has launched Duo Identity and Access Management (IAM), a cutting-edge security solution aimed at tackling identity-based threats that are becoming increasingly prevalent in the age of artificial intelligence. This announcement is significant as identity-related attacks constituted 60% of the Cisco Talos Incident Response cases in 2024.

The new Duo IAM solution builds upon the well-established Duo multifactor authentication (MFA) platform. It introduces several advanced security features like Complete Passwordless authentication, Proximity Verification using Bluetooth Low Energy, and Session Theft Protection through Duo Passport, all designed to strengthen end-to-end phishing resistance. These features are strategically developed to eliminate the need for costly hardware keys, thereby maintaining user productivity while enhancing security.

The solution is a response to critical market needs, as highlighted in Cisco's 2025 Cybersecurity Readiness Index, which reveals that nearly one-third of companies globally prioritize identity as their top cybersecurity challenge. Duo IAM's integration with existing third-party identity systems and AI-driven analytics through Cisco Identity Intelligence positions it as a robust tool against sophisticated AI-powered social engineering threats.

Furthermore, Cisco has embedded its AI Assistant within Duo, enabling organizations to effortlessly deploy and manage the new IAM solution. This integration bolsters Cisco's zero-trust architecture approach, ensuring security is embedded as a foundational aspect rather than an optional layer.

Through this expansion of its security portfolio, Cisco aims to unlock new growth opportunities within the identity security segment, providing existing and potential customers with a comprehensive, security-first IAM solution.
