Key Highlights:

  • Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) has invested CAD $35 million in the JOY District for a 60% stake, planning a CAD $10 million drill program for 2025.
  • The AuRORA deposit, discovered in 2024, extends over 600m by 500m and features high-grade intersections exceeding those of the historic Kemess South deposit.
  • Amarc Resources (AHR) and Freeport have identified nine additional sulphide systems in the JOY District, indicating potential for district-scale discoveries.

Amarc Resources Ltd. (AHR) and Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) are moving forward with a major drilling initiative set for 2025 at the JOY District in British Columbia. The program targets several high-grade deposits, including the newly discovered AuRORA copper-gold-silver (Cu-Au-Ag) deposit, known for its outstanding mineralization.

Freeport, having already invested CAD $35 million, has secured a 60% interest in the project. The company is set to fund a CAD $10 million program in 2025, contingent on an additional CAD $75 million for stage 2 expansion. This investment underscores Freeport's commitment to exploring the district's vast potential.

The AuRORA deposit, found within the extensive Northwest Gossan Target in 2024, has shown impressive drill results, such as intersections up to 2.19 g/t gold, 0.63% copper, and 6.95 g/t silver over 162 meters. These grades outperform the historical Kemess South deposit, further enhancing the site's exploration appeal.

Beyond AuRORA, Amarc and Freeport have identified large sulphide systems including Twins, PINE, and Canyon. Successful drills in these areas highlight the potential for significant porphyry Cu-Au mineralization, reinforcing JOY District's prospect of developing into a major copper-gold district.
