Clearfield, Inc. (CLFD), a leader in community broadband fiber connectivity, has announced the launch of the TetherSmart™ Multi-Fiber Terminal (MFT). This new product is the industry's smallest, fully sealed, 10-port access terminal designed for FTTH, FTTB, and 5G backhaul network applications. The TetherSmart MFT supports both centralized and distributed split architectures, and its modular configuration simplifies scaling without adding engineering complexity.
The TetherSmart MFT features industry-standard SC, MPO, and hardened fiber optic connector options, providing craft-friendly, plug-and-play connectivity. Its flexible design allows for future portfolio expansion, making it ideal for deployments in dense neighborhoods, business parks, and on decorative 5G small cell poles. The terminal's compact size enables installations in pedestals as small as 6 inches, as well as below-grade and aerial options.
Clearfield’s CEO, Anis Khemakhem, highlighted the growing demand for smaller, faster, and smarter deployment options, stating that the TetherSmart MFT allows network operators to economically reach any customer without compromising on speed, performance, or durability.
The TetherSmart MFT meets Clearfield’s FiberDeep® performance standards, achieving ultra-low insertion loss with 0.2dB max for single-fiber and 0.35 dB max for multi-fiber connectors. The terminal is designed for long-term outdoor use with GR-771 compliance, featuring UV-resistant molded plastic and ruggedized, environmentally sealed construction to withstand harsh outside plant conditions.
