  • PLP (PLPC, Financial) and Lightera announce a strategic compatibility program for FTTx deployment.
  • The collaboration promises a 30% reduction in distribution network costs.
  • High-density fiber cables (144-288 fibers) can be deployed in compact spaces using this innovative solution.

PLP (PLPC), a leader in broadband connectivity solutions, and Lightera, an innovator in optical fiber technology, have unveiled a new compatibility program aimed at revolutionizing FTTx networks. This strategic collaboration integrates PLP's COYOTE® STP Pro Series (XL and L) and COYOTE® DTC closures with Lightera's DuctSaver® and AccuRoll® rollable ribbon cables. The integration allows for the deployment of high-density fiber optic cables in compact spaces, offering significant advantages in terms of cost, efficiency, and scalability.

The newly announced program is designed to address key challenges in fiber network expansions, including labor, material, and spatial requirements. By utilizing rollable ribbon cable technology traditionally used in high-density environments like data centers, the partnership promises a 30% cost reduction in the network distribution portion compared to conventional methods. This reduction in costs is anticipated to make large-scale fiber deployments more feasible and economically attractive for network operators.

Mark Boxer, Technical Manager at Lightera, emphasized the program's potential to transfer the efficiency seen in data centers to last-mile deployments. Matt Becker, Director of North America Communications Markets at PLP, noted that this program equips network designers with enhanced design flexibility, enabling high fiber counts in more compact and economical packages without sacrificing performance.

The combined solution will be showcased at the Fiber Connect 2025 event in Nashville from June 1-4, providing an opportunity for industry stakeholders to experience firsthand the innovative deployment strategies enabled by the PLP-Lightera collaboration.
