  • NuScale Power (SMR, Financial) receives design approval from U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for 77 MWe SMR design.
  • The approval marks NuScale as the sole SMR technology company with NRC design approval.
  • The upgraded design increases power output per module, enhancing clean energy solutions.

NuScale Power Corporation (SMR), a leader in advanced small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear technology, has secured design approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its uprated 250 MWt (77 MWe) NuScale Power Modules™. This marks NuScale's second SMR design approved by the NRC, reinforcing the company's pioneering position in the industry.

The approval increases the power output per module from NuScale's earlier 50 MWe design, positioning their partner ENTRA1 Energy to deliver a broader range of reliable, carbon-free energy solutions. ENTRA1 Energy holds exclusive rights to deploy and commercialize NuScale's SMR technology globally.

NuScale's previous 50 MWe SMR design was the first to receive NRC approval, with the latest design enhancing capacity while maintaining the original's safety features. NuScale remains on track for deployment by 2030, contributing to clean energy innovation and meeting the rising demands for sustainable power solutions. The company's strategic partnership with ENTRA1 Energy aims to advance the deployment of SMR technology across various sectors, from electrical generation to hydrogen production.
