  • Waters Corporation (WAT, Financial) launches the Xevo TQ Absolute XR, offering up to a 6x increase in performance robustness.
  • The device reduces power and gas consumption by 50%, cutting heat production and bench space requirements.
  • Validated through over 20,000 injections, the system enhances sensitivity for PFAS detection and pharmaceutical quantitation.

Waters Corporation (WAT) has unveiled the Xevo TQ Absolute XR Mass Spectrometer, marking a significant advancement in benchtop tandem quadrupole systems. This latest model, launched at the 73rd ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics, achieves up to a six-fold increase in performance robustness compared to its predecessor, the Xevo TQ Absolute.

The Xevo TQ Absolute XR is engineered for high-throughput laboratory applications in pharmaceutical companies, contract testing organizations, and government labs. It demonstrates improved sensitivity and resilience against contamination, making it particularly effective for PFAS detection and pharmaceutical quantitation. The innovative StepWave XR Ion Guide technology minimizes downtime, further enhancing operational efficiency.

Key features of the device include a 50% reduction in power and nitrogen gas usage, a 50% decrease in heat production, and a reduction of the physical footprint by 50% compared to other high-performing tandem quadrupoles in its class. These efficiency improvements not only lower operational costs for laboratories but also support sustainability initiatives.

In practical applications, the device has shown exceptional reliability and accuracy. Synexa Life Sciences reported successful handling of over 20,000 continuous injections of human plasma samples using the Xevo TQ Absolute XR, demonstrating enhanced reproducibility and accuracy.

The Xevo TQ Absolute XR Mass Spectrometer is now available for order, strengthening Waters' competitive position in the analytical testing market, particularly for applications with growing demands such as PFAS detection and complex drug development.
