IBM (IBM) has announced the opening of its watsonx AI Labs, a new innovation hub in Manhattan's One Madison, aimed at accelerating the adoption and development of AI technology. This initiative seeks to connect IBM's enterprise resources with pioneering AI developers to facilitate the creation of transformative business solutions. The hub, strategically located in the heart of New York City, will serve as a collaborative space for IBM engineers, researchers, startups, and enterprises to co-create meaningful AI solutions.

As part of this launch, IBM will enhance its capabilities by acquiring expertise and licensing technology from Seek AI, a New York City-based startup known for creating AI agents that unlock enterprise data. This partnership will play a crucial role in the lab's development, providing foundational technology and expertise. By tapping into the vibrant AI ecosystem of New York City, which boasts over 2,000 AI startups and significant funding since 2019, IBM strengthens its position within the global AI landscape.

The watsonx AI Labs will focus on developing domain-specific AI solutions to address key enterprise challenges, including customer service, supply-chain optimization, cybersecurity, and responsible AI governance. Supporting local startups is a pivotal part of the lab's mission. Through IBM's commitment of a $500 million Enterprise AI Venture Fund over the next five years, startups will have access to mentorship, technical expertise, and potential investment opportunities, fostering a robust innovation ecosystem in New York City.
