Keysight Technologies (KEYS, Financial), a leading electronic equipment manufacturer, announced plans to divest certain business lines of Spirent Communications to Viavi Solutions. This decision comes as part of a consent agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
The DOJ had raised antitrust concerns regarding Keysight's $1.5 billion acquisition of the UK-based telecommunications company, Spirent Communications. To address these concerns, Keysight agreed to divest three specific business lines: high-speed Ethernet, network security, and channel emulation.
This strategic move aims to alleviate the DOJ's worries about reduced competition in these critical technology sectors, ensuring a fair market environment. The divestiture will allow Viavi Solutions to expand its portfolio and strengthen its position in the telecommunications industry.
