In a significant development for the data center industry, Eaton (ETN, Financial) and Siemens Energy have announced a collaboration designed to expedite the construction of data centers with integrated onsite power. This partnership aims to address the rapidly growing global demand for AI and cloud computing by offering standardized modular systems for swift data center deployment.

The agreement between Eaton and Siemens Energy focuses on providing reliable, grid-independent power solutions, which include Eaton’s range of electrical equipment and engineering services. Siemens Energy contributes a modular and scalable power plant concept tailored for data centers, capable of generating 500 megawatts (MW) using highly efficient SGT-800 gas turbines. This system can also include battery storage and is designed for future carbon-neutral operations.

This innovative approach allows for simultaneous construction of data centers and their associated power generation systems, facilitating rapid deployment in regions with available land near gas, water, and fiber resources. The companies highlight options to integrate renewable energy and provide grid services, aligning with regional regulatory requirements.

The collaboration promises to significantly reduce time-to-market for data centers by up to two years, incorporating advancements in sustainability by cutting CO2 emissions by approximately 50% and eliminating the need for backup diesel generators. This venture positions Eaton and Siemens Energy as pivotal players in transforming and modernizing the energy landscape of data center infrastructure.
