  • Aware (NASDAQ: AWRE) achieved best-in-class performance in DHS RIVTD testing for passive liveness detection.
  • The company's technology demonstrated superior efficiency compared to active PAD solutions, offering faster processing speeds and lower failure rates.
  • Aware plans to showcase additional advanced features in upcoming RIVR 2025 testing.

Aware, Inc. (AWRE, Financial) has been recognized for its best-in-class performance in the Department of Homeland Security’s Remote Identity Validation Technology Demonstration (RIVTD), particularly excelling in Track 3 for presentation attack detection (PAD). The company’s passive liveness detection technology outperformed competing solutions, including active PAD systems, which showed longer processing times and higher failure rates.

The testing, conducted at the Maryland Test Facility in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, evaluated the effectiveness of various technologies in combating identity fraud through methods like identity document verification, selfie-to-ID matching, and liveness detection. CEO Ajay Amlani highlighted the importance of independent evaluations like RIVTD in validating the security and reliability of biometric security technologies.

Aware's superior performance in passive liveness detection was confirmed by threshold-adjusted scores from the RIVTD test event. Passive liveness detection methods are noted for verifying a live user without requiring interaction or specific movements, thus providing a more seamless user experience compared to active systems. Active PAD solutions, which require user prompts, often result in longer transaction times and higher failure rates.

This achievement builds upon Aware's prior success in the 2023 NIST FATE-PAD testing, reinforcing their position as a leader in biometric authentication. Aware plans to leverage this validation by showcasing upcoming capabilities, including their patented bright screen reflection algorithm and behavioral algorithms in the future RIVR 2025 testing.

The company remains committed to delivering fast, accurate, and secure biometric solutions that are recognized by leading government agencies like DHS. Their continued participation in independent evaluations is essential for establishing trust and advancing the future of secure, standardized digital identity technologies.
