In its latest research, Cisco (CSCO, Financial) highlights a substantial transformation in infrastructure driven by AI, with 97% of IT leaders emphasizing the importance of modernized networks for AI, IoT, and cloud deployments. The study indicates that 91% of these leaders plan to increase network investments, as businesses face severe annual financial losses from network outages, estimated at $160 billion globally.

The data underscores that 98% of leaders prioritize secure networking, with 61% considering it critical. Furthermore, 89% of respondents predict that enhanced networks will propel revenue growth, while 93% foresee cost savings through smarter, more adaptive networks. Despite the apparent need, only 41% have implemented intelligent network capabilities like segmentation and control, which are deemed essential by 98% for future growth.

Additionally, the research reveals significant challenges such as siloed systems (58%), incomplete deployments (51%), and reliance on manual oversight (48%). CEOs are also prioritizing network infrastructure, with 97% expanding AI usage and 78% depending on CIOs and CTOs for investment decisions. This alignment between C-suite and IT leaders is seen as critical for successfully navigating the evolving network landscape.
