  • VERSES AI (VRSSF, Financial) secures IEEE final approval for P2874 Spatial Web standards.
  • The standards promise to revolutionize interoperability between AI systems, IoT devices, and robotics.
  • Expectations set for enhanced secure communications and reduced development time and costs.

VERSES AI Inc. (VRSSF) has announced the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has given its final approval to the P2874 Spatial Web standards. These standards aim to facilitate interoperability among AI systems, agents, robotics, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Developed over a five-year period with contributions from approximately 300 specialists, the standards introduce the Hyperspace Modeling Language (HSML) and Hyperspace Transaction Protocol (HSTP) to create a shared vocabulary and encode permissions and policies for digital interactions respectively.

CEO of VERSES, Gabriel René, expressed excitement over the standards, likening their potential impact on AI connectivity to how Wi-Fi and Bluetooth transformed device interoperability. The company plans to integrate these standards into its Genius product, aiming to be the first commercial application deploying them. This move is anticipated to enhance secure communications, reduce development times, and lower integration costs, providing a robust framework for safe and efficient AI system interactions.

The new standards address critical challenges for businesses, particularly in standardizing protocols for identity, credentials, and trust. This will empower enterprises to specify authorized access and interactions, such as in factory environments where only approved agents can direct robotic actions. For consumers, the standards offer control over how their data is used, such as sharing private medical information under strict terms.

VERSES' Genius product, tailored for implementing these standards, will support the deployment of intelligent agents that can interoperate easily, follow enterprise-defined policies, and rapidly integrate without custom coding. The company envisions the standards setting a new benchmark for AI, IoT, and robotics interactions, significantly mirroring the contributions of past IEEE standards in the digital sphere.
