- Digital Twin technology implemented on Chile's Ruta del Maipo improves road safety for over 7 million vehicles monthly.
- Platform allows real-time emergency scenario simulations without traffic disruption.
- Plans to expand the technology to more highways and tunnels across Latin America.
ISA Vías and DXC Technology (DXC, Financial) have partnered to introduce a Digital Twin platform on Chile's key transportation route, the Ruta del Maipo highway. The highway, which accommodates more than 7 million vehicles each month, will benefit from a real-time virtual model of the physical roadway. This innovative technology enables the simulation of emergency scenarios such as vehicle rollovers and fires without affecting live traffic flow. It also aids road operators in training and refining response strategies, thereby optimizing emergency preparedness.
Andrés Contreras Herrera, CEO of ISA Vías, emphasized that this collaboration marks significant progress in Chile's infrastructure modernization. By integrating digital twin technology, ISA Vías aims to better anticipate critical events, enhance safety protocols, and improve traffic management, drawing on real-time data for predictive maintenance and operational efficiency.
DXC Technology's Executive Vice President, Howard Boville, highlighted the transformative potential of this partnership, using innovative technology to bolster road safety and efficiency. The company's Digital Twin platform is set to pave the way for more intelligent transportation infrastructure across Latin America, underscoring their commitment to leveraging AI for smarter, more resilient systems.
With plans to expand the implementation to additional highways and tunnels, this initiative sets a new benchmark for infrastructure safety and management in the region, signaling substantial growth potential for DXC's technology in Latin America.
