VIAVI Solutions Inc. (VIAV, Financial) has released its 2025/2026 State of the Network study, which identifies significant trends in enterprise network management. The study, drawing insights from 750 global professionals, indicates that by 2025, 79% of enterprises intend to enhance their use of packet capture to improve their network management capabilities.
The study highlights that companies with solid packet capture capabilities are significantly more effective in resolving network issues. Such organizations are four times more likely to resolve problems within an hour and 35% more likely to address issues within three hours compared to those lacking strong packet capture capabilities.
As multi-cloud environments become more prevalent, a 125% increase in collaborative monitoring models has been observed. Additionally, 42% of organizations employing NetSecOps models have reported enhanced security benefits. Despite economic challenges, 92% of organizations report having a sufficient budget, though 78% express a need for more support to address rising network security threats.
Chris Labac, Vice President at VIAVI, emphasized the crucial need for unified visibility, smarter tooling, and operational alignment in managing hybrid infrastructures and complex cloud environments. The study underscores a clear shift towards deeper network observability and a growing reliance on packet capture to improve mean times to detection (MTTD) and resolution (MTTR).
